McLaren haven't enjoyed the strongest campaign so far, but they'll be hoping to turn things around this weekend given their excellent record at the Hungaroring. They've finished on the podium here every year since 2023, even securing a one-two finish last time out. With both cars starting in the top three, a strong result could be there for the taking.
Second in the Drivers' Championship, Lewis Hamilton is now five points ahead of George Russell after the latter's unfortunate first-lap DNF in Belgium. Although Hamilton qualified P2, he'll start from P5 after receiving a three-place grid penalty for impeding Oscar Piastri.
Also serving a three-place grid penalty is Kimi Antonelli, who failed to slow under single yellow flags. He'll start P7, just behind teammate George Russell, after Mercedes struggled to match the pace of McLaren and Ferrari on a track where straight-line speed offers little advantage.
The 19-year-old still leads the championship comfortably by 45 points but will be hoping not to lose too many points to Hamilton, who should have the stronger race pace. However, with the likes of Verstappen and Piastri ahead of him, it's set to be an exciting race.
