Game of Thrones fans don’t have long to wait to return to Westeros as the new prequel series House of the Dragon is set to land on screens very soon.
Starring former Doctor Who frontman Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen and Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, the series is adapted from George RR Martin’s Fire & Blood novel and is set around 300 years before the events seen in Game of Thrones. The series will tell the story of the bloody civil war within the famous family of House Targaryen, in what promises to be a thrilling treat for GoT viewers.
With the series set to premiere on HBO Max over in the US tonight, Sunday August 21, fans over in the UK will no doubt be wondering when and where they can get their next Game of Thrones fix. Here’s everything you need to know about watching House of the Dragon on this side of the pond.

Unfortunately HBO Max is not available in the UK, but fans fear not - Sky Atlantic will be airing the first season of House of the Dragon, with the pilot episode broadcasting on Monday August 22. The series is also available to NOW subscribers via the streaming service’s Entertainment package, which costs £9.99 per month.
The premiere episode will first air at 2am on Sky Atlantic and run for an hour and fifteen minutes until 3.15am, for fans who are keen enough to pull an all-nighter - it will also be shown again at 9pm on Monday. There are 10 episodes in total in House of the Dragon’s first series, with new episodes dropping weekly.
