On Friday Ferrari's innovative rotating rear wing – nicknamed the 'flip-flop' and 'Macarena' – was all anybody was talking about, but ahead of the Chinese GP attentions have shifted toward's Mercedes' front wing, which both Antonelli and Russell have had issues with this weekend.
That gives both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton more than a glimmer of hope. The gap to the Ferrari drivers was was far closer than many had anticipated a week ago, and after finishing second and third respectively in the Sprint, they've secured a second-row lockout for the GP proper.
The only disappointment for the Scuderia concerns that aforementioned rear wing, a component designed to rotate 180 degrees in order to allow more air to pass through, and thereby reduce drag on straights. Since Shanghai International Circuit features one of the longest straights on the F1 calendar, Ferrari made a worthwhile gamble to give it a spin, but it's not quite ready yet.
Let's not forget, however, that off the line the Ferraris are streets ahead of everybody. So much so that Russell is campaigning for a rule change in the apparent interests of safety.
