The 2023 USFL season will wrap up on Saturday evening with a championship game set to be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
The Pittsburgh Maulers surprisingly reached the title game after finishing with a 4-6 record in the regular season. That was good enough to clinch the North division, earning Pittsburgh a playoff berth (the Maulers defeated the Michigan Panthers 31-27 last week to reach the championship game).
Meanwhile, the Birmingham Stallions (8-2) are considered the favorites after dominating in the regular season and defeating the New Orleans Breakers 47-22 last week to advance to the title game.
Saturday’s game between Pittsburgh and Birmingham will begin at 6:00 p.m. MT and will be nationally televised on NBC. Football fans can stream the USFL championship game on fuboTV (try it free).
The Maulers have one former Denver Broncos player on their roster (offensive tackle Leon Johnson). The Stallions have a pair of ex-Denver players (punter Colby Wadman and quarterback Kyle Sloter) plus two former Broncos coaches (DL coach Bill Johnson and RBs coach Larry Kirksey).
Overall, 12 former Broncos played in the USFL this spring.
