How to use the Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy

The Room of Requirement is one of the most important parts of Hogwarts Legacy as it can help you manage a number of resources. It’s a place where you can grow plants, brew potions, and keep beasts. This is very helpful, as you can not only save money by making resources instead of buying them, but you can also sell many of the things you make here.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Room of Requirement, including how to unlock it, and what you can do there.

Hogwarts Legacy: Where is the Room of Requirement?

As in the books, it doesn’t matter how often you walk past the wall, you can’t open the Room of Requirement until you are told about it. You learn about the room as part of the main quest line so you can’t miss it. It’s shortly after you complete the Trials and Tribulations quest.

Professor Weasley will tell you about it, and you then explore it with her while it is storing hidden things. Later, you meet Deek, the house elf, who will help you transform the room into anything you need. Once it’s unlocked you can fast-travel to it at any time. To do this go to the Hogwarts Map, and select the Secret Rooms section.

Hogwarts Legacy: Room of Requirement spells

There are three spells that can only be used if you are in the Room of Requirement. These three spells are also necessary if you want to get anything done there.

The Conjuring Spell will allow you to place new objects in the room, which will help you get all of your workstations set up. The Altering Spell will let you change the size and appearance of each object, and Evanesco will allow you to remove things that you’ve placed.

Hogwarts Legacy: Moonstone

When you are setting up the Room of Requirement, you will need Moonstone. You can find it all over the game’s open world, so make sure you always try to pick some up. If you see a cluster of crystals sticking out of rocks, you should shoot it with your basic cast. This will reward you with a lot of Moonstone. Also if you use Evanesco on the objects in your room some of your Moonstone will be refunded.

Hogwarts Legacy: Workstations

There are a number of different workstations you’ll need for your room if you want to get the most out of it. You can buy new objects for this from Tomes and Scrolls in Hogsmeade. Getting everything you need can cost quite a lot of gold, but there are a few money-making tips that can help you out.

Here’s everything we recommend you buy as soon as you can.

  • Large Planter – Not only will you need these for certain plants, but they give a higher yield than smaller planters.
  • Large Potions station – Being able to brew multiple potions at once will save a lot of time.
  • Desk of Description – This will let you identify gear for you to equip.
  • Enchanted Loom – You can use this to craft gear upgrades from beast materials.
  • Material Refiner – Produces 10 Moonstone every 10 minutes.
  • Hopping Pot – Produces a random potion every 15 minutes.
  • Chopping Station – Produces a random plant every 10 minutes
  • Dung Composter – Produces Fertilizer every 10 minutes.

Hogwarts Legacy: Vivarium

You will unlock the Vivarium later in the story once you have the ability to rescue beasts. This is where you can keep your fantastic beasts, and also where you can take care of them and breed them. Keeping beasts in your Vivarium will also allow you to gather different materials, which you can use to upgrade your gear.

Here’s some things you should buy for your Vivarium:

  • Beast Feeder – This removes the need for you to manually feed your beasts, as they will go and eat from it whenever they’re hungry.
  • Toybox – This will keep our beasts happy, although different beasts prefer different toys.
  • Breeding Pen – Does what it says on the tin, this will allow your animals to breed and produce offspring.
