How to upgrade weapons in Black Ops Royale

Black Ops Royale has removed the classic loadout system, which means upgrading weapons is the only way to win gunfights in Warzone, and you must learn how to do that.

You drop into Avalon with a pistol, then start looking for ground loot, and optimize them as the matches progress. Since you can’t buy custom loadouts, you have to loot and find Attachment Kits that’ll push your weapon through the rarity tiers up to Legendary.

If you’re not upgrading weapons, you’ll lose fights to players who might be running the exact same gun, but just built a few tiers higher. With that said, here’s everything you need to know about upgrading weapons in Warzone Black Ops Royale.

How weapon rarity works in Black Ops Royale

In Black Ops Royale, every weapon you find on Avalon has a built-in rarity tier and a fixed five-attachment upgrade path. Instead of swapping attachments manually, you upgrade the gun’s rarity, and the next attachment in that preset path unlocks automatically.

The rarity ladder is:

  • Common
  • Uncommon
  • Rare
  • Epic
  • Legendary

Most guns you grab as ground loot will start at Common and come with just one active attachment. As you move up each tier, you activate another attachment from that weapon’s predefined build until the gun is fully stacked at Legendary. Once a weapon hits the top tier, which is usually orange or Legendary, you can’t push it any further.

What Attachment Kits are and why they matter

Attachment Kits are special loot items that upgrade your gun’s rarity and automatically add the next attachment on its path.

These Attachment Kits spawn as ground loot, in supply boxes, and as rewards from Activities and other events on Avalon. Visually, they look like open suitcases with a noticeable purple glow, so they’re easy to spot even in busy areas. You need multiple kits to fully max a gun from its base tier up to Legendary.

Since custom loadouts or Buy Stations are no longer a thing in Black Ops Royale, Attachment Kits are your only replacement for getting better weapons.

How many Attachment Kits you need to upgrade weapons

The weapon upgrade system in Black Ops Royale is very straightforward. From a standard Common gun, the path is:

  • Common + one Attachment Kit = Uncommon
  • Uncommon + one Attachment Kit = Rare
  • Rare + one Attachment Kit = Epic
  • Epic + one Attachment Kit = Legendary

That means you need a total of four Attachment Kits to take a Common weapon to Legendary.

Each time you rank up the rarity, your gun gains the next attachment in its predetermined five-attachment build, so by Legendary, all five attachments are active. If you pick up a gun that’s already Uncommon or higher, you simply need fewer kits to finish it.

How to upgrade weapons in a Black Ops Royale match

First, equip the weapon you want to upgrade and make sure you’re holding the gun you plan to invest in before touching any Attachment Kit. The kit will always apply to the weapon currently in your hands.

Then find an Attachment Kit on Avalon. Search buildings, supply boxes, and Activity rewards, as these are your most consistent sources. You’re looking for the glowing suitcase-style item.

Walk over the Kit while holding your chosen gun, because when you step over an Attachment Kit with your target weapon equipped, it auto-consumes and instantly bumps that weapon up one rarity tier, adding the next attachment.

You can stumble into Kits anywhere on Avalon, but some places are way more reliable than others. The best places and methods are ground loot in high-density POIs. Generally, the named locations with lots of buildings and loot spawns naturally give you more chances to find Kits.

Opening crates is one of the safest ways to stack upgrade resources quickly. Completing Activities and map events can drop Kits as part of their reward pool. End-game style hotspots often contain more powerful loot, including rarer guns and extra Kits.

Every weapon in Black Ops Royale has a visible upgrade path that shows all five attachments it can unlock. Even when you’re still at Common, you can preview everything that weapon becomes at higher tiers, which makes it easier to decide if it’s worth investing your Kits. You can inspect the weapon directly in-game to see its active and grayed-out attachments.
