Musical favourite Hamilton will have a six-week run at Sunderland Empire, it has been confirmed.
Following hints of big news to come on social media, the hugely popular musical has now added a host of new dates to its UK tour and they include a long stint at the city theatre which announced the news this Tuesday morning. In its 'major show announcement', it confirmed a run from June 17 to July 26, 2025, so audiences will have to be patient.
Ticket details have not yet been released but fans can sign up for priority booking now. And the upcoming run is already generating excitement on social media in response to Sunderland Empire's reveal which, copying the colours in the musical's trademark of a black star on a gold background, said 'The room where it happens is Sunderland Empire'.

The news immediately received more than 300 likes on the theatre's Facebook page. The award-winning musical - a song and rap spectacular - is written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and based on the 2004 book Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow which tells the story of America's founding father Alexander Hamilton.
First performed in 2015, it has gone on to win a raft of accolades including Tony Awards and a Pulitzer Prize for drama. News of its extended tour follows an earlier announcement that it will run in Manchester and Edinburgh. Other new additions to the list now include Bristol, Birmingham, Dublin, Cardiff, Bradford, Southampton, Liverpool, Plymouth and Norwich: see here.
