How to change your flare color in Sand Raiders of Sophie

Sand: Raiders of Sophie flare clouds in the sky in different colors.

Using your Sand Raiders of Sophie flare gun, and changing the color of the flare itself, can be a valuable communication tool, particularly if you're not using a microphone to chat with fellow players. Obviously, there's no established language so who knows how your signals will be interpreted but green means good and red means bad, right? To help you use your flare gun effectively, I've explained everything about how it works in Sand and how to change colors below.

To change the color of your flares from the default green, you must hold R to bring up the color menu, then use the scroll wheel to select a new color – your options are cyan, red, yellow, orange, and dark blue. When you release R, your character will load in a flare of the selected color.

With a flare loaded, you can fire it into the sky to create a smoke cloud of your chosen color that lasts for about 45 seconds and can be seen above the dunes for quite some distance - use them sparingly to avoid attracting too much attention to yourself, particuarly if you're carrying useful materials such as Sand Raiders of Sophie Weird Coral and Coral Chunks.

Also make sure you shoot it upwards rather than at a shallow angle, otherwise the flare will just arc down and won't explode. Sand Raiders of Sophie Flare guns also have infinite ammo, so you can fire off as many flares as you like as much as you like.

Flares serve no purpose other than for communication, so you can use different colors to indicate whether you're a friend or foe. And bear in mind that when you use a radio tower to extract in Sand Raiders of Sophie, your Trampler will start releasing plumes of green smoke, signalling to all nearby raiders that you're trying to evacuate.
