Over 100,000 people currently receiving Universal Credit will be subjected to a new rule change from today.
Before the change, claimants who would work 12 hours a week on the National Living Wage did not need to have regular meetings with their Jobcentre Coach. However, this threshold has now been increased to 15 a week, placing further pressure on people to either find a job or increase their current working hours.
It is believed around 120,000 benefit claimants will be affected by the changes to the Administrative Earnings Threshold. According to the government, any new claimant commitments will be tailored to an individual's circumstances.
