Not only does that practice exist for reasons beyond trying to distract the Greek Freak, but it is related to a lesser-known rule in the league the public awareness of can be traced back to an incident involving Paul Pierce, the Boston Celtics, and big man Dwight Howard more than a decade ago. So what exactly is going on with that countdown and the weird rule tied to it?
