How Patriots players reportedly felt about DeAndre Hopkins’ visit

The buzz has been swirling as wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins visited the New England Patriots on Wednesday and Thursday. NFL analyst Jason McCourty gave his impressions on the visit from the players’ perspective and what he was hearing from inside the walls at Gillette Stadium.

He appeared on “Good Morning Football” on Friday and indicated that the players he spoke with felt “really good” about the visit. Hopkins would be a solid addition to a New England wide receiver room that still lacks a top weapon. He recorded 64 catches for 717 yards and three touchdowns in 2022.

Quarterback Mac Jones gave a measure of support for the Patriots to sign Hopkins. Now, McCourty feels that the takeaways from the visit were positive.

“I spoke to some guys around that area, guys on that team,” said McCourty. “They feel really good about that visit. Obviously, there’s nothing set in stone. I’m not saying he’s going to the New England Patriots, but once he was on that visit, once he was there, once he was in the building, guys feel really good, not only about them wanting to get him there, but also DeAndre Hopkins having interest in wanting to play for the New England Patriots and wanting to play for Bill Belichick.”

Hopkins will reportedly wait a bit before making a decision on where to sign. Nevertheless, it’s hard not to feel like the Patriots are in good standing with the All-Pro wideout.
