How old is Huw Edwards and how much does he earn?

Huw Edwards is one of the most recognisable faces on our TV screens. He is the journalist who announced the Queen's death live on the BBC and led the coverage for her funeral.

Born in Bridgend and raised in Llanelli, he now lives in London with his wife, who he shares five adult children with. He has always been very private about his personal life but talks fondly about his Welsh parents.

His father, Hywel Teifi Edwards, was a Welsh academic and prominent Plaid Cymru member. His mother, Aerona Protheroe, was a primary school teacher.

Tonight, his wife Vicky Flind confirmed he was the BBC presenter who has been at the centre of allegations relating to sexually explicit images of a young person. She said her husband was “suffering from serious mental health issues” and was now “receiving in-patient hospital care where he will stay for the foreseeable future” as she asked for privacy for her family. You can read her full statement here.

The Metropolitan Police has said no criminal offence has been committed by Mr Edwards. You can get more story updates straight to your inbox by subscribing to our newsletters here.
