How Is Fiserv's Stock Performance Compared to Other Financial Stocks?

With a market cap of $24.4 billion, Fiserv, Inc. (FISV) is a global provider of payments and financial services technology solutions. The company operates through two segments: Merchant Solutions and Financial Solutions, offering services such as merchant acquiring, digital commerce, mobile payments, fraud protection, card processing, and digital banking solutions.

Companies valued at $10 billion or more are generally considered "large-cap" stocks, and Fiserv fits this criterion perfectly. Fiserv serves a wide range of clients including businesses, banks, credit unions, fintechs, public sector entities, and software providers.

Despite this, shares of the Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based company have declined 65.2% from its 52-week high of $130.77. FISV stock has dropped 5.2% over the past three months, underperforming the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLF) 1.3% rise over the same time frame.

The stock is down nearly 32% on a YTD basis, a steeper decline than XLF’s marginal drop. In the longer term, shares of the payments firm have decreased 65% over the past 52 weeks, compared to XLF’s 1.5% return over the same time frame.

Yet, FISV stock has been trading above its 200-day moving average since July.

Fiserv reported Q2 2026 results on Aug. 6, with revenue down 4% year-over-year to $5.29 billion and adjusted EPS declining to $1.84, while merchant solutions revenue fell 1% and financial solutions revenue dropped 8%. Following the weak results, Fiserv cut its 2026 adjusted EPS forecast to $7.20 - $7.40 and lowered its organic revenue outlook to flat to -1% from 1% - 3% growth.

In comparison, rival Mastercard Incorporated (MA) has shown a less pronounced decline than FISV stock. MA stock has dropped marginally over the past 52 weeks and 1.2% on a YTD basis.

Due to the stock’s weak performance, analysts remain cautious on Fiserv. The stock has a consensus rating of “Hold” from 37 analysts in coverage, and the mean price target of $57.59 is a premium of 26.3% to current levels.
