Founded in 2007, Chill is an Irish-based insurer that searches and compares 14 different insurers to help customers gain the best deals. They make a great deal, easier.
Chill analysed data to find the search increase for the top five car insurance related questions.
Taking the joint top spot, 200 people searched whether vandalism and engine failure were covered by car insurance.
In second place were repairs with 100 people looking it up, followed by lost keys (50), and the cost of insurance (33 people)
Chill has revealed the top questions - and answered them.
Does car insurance cover vandalism?
Most comprehensive vehicle insurance policies will cover damage or vandalism to your car. The amount you’ll be able to claim will be different depending on your insurer.
However, if you only have third-party insurance you may not be covered for vandalism.
Does car insurance cover engine failure?
This would largely depend on the cause of engine failure, if your vehicle is old and the damage is down to general wear and tear then most policies wouldn’t cover it.
If the engine failure is due to a collision or other accident then a fully comprehensive policy may cover this.
Does car insurance cover repairs?
Repairs are often covered in comprehensive insurance policies, however, it is important to weigh up the cost of paying it yourself or making a claim.
Claims can affect future insurance costs so it could be more economically beneficial to cover the cost of the repair yourself.
Does car insurance cover lost keys?
Fully comprehensive insurance policies may cover the cost of replacing a set of car keys, however, some may not if you have simply misplaced them, so be sure to check.
Some policies also offer key cover as an add-on, so you won’t be covered if you didn’t opt for this.
How is car insurance calculated?
Car insurance costs take a number of factors into account such as your age, where you live, how long you’ve been driving, any previous claims, and more.
Different providers and policies will offer various pricing so it’s always best to shop around.
It is important to note individual car insurance policies can differ, so you should always check with your provider if you have any questions or doubts about what you’re covered for.
