‘Spa weekend or ski break?’ I said to my friend Thea, as we drunkenly clinked our glasses together in the bar. ‘Country house or city break?’ Eyes sparkling conspiratorially, imaginations fuelled by wine, we excitedly traded ideas for a girls’ holiday somewhere glamorous.
That conversation happened five years ago – and yet, until last autumn, we still hadn’t pulled the trigger and booked. You know how it is: life happens. Family and partner trips, work and weddings, everyday commitments and major moves. It was never the right time to prioritise going away with a friend.
