In his first year as the Pittsburgh Steelers general manager, Omar Khan finds himself in a rather unique position as far as the 2023 NFL draft goes. Pittsburgh finds itself with the No. 17 and No. 32 overall picks and some very particular draft needs. If there is a player the Steelers covet, they have the ammo to go up and get them.
But how far up would those two picks take the Steelers? Based on most trade value charts, this combination of picks would net Pittsburgh something in the neighborhood of 1,540 points. Based on the same charts, this would be enough to move up to around the sixth or seventh overall pick.
So if the Steelers can move up to seven, who would have to be on the board to make it worthwhile? Four names come to mind immediately. Ohio State offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr., Texas Tech edge Tyree Wilson, Alabama edge Will Anderson Jr. and Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter. If there is an early run on quarterbacks, two or three of these guys could be available.
