Charlotte Church has been talking about how difficult it was to keep the secret from her family and friends that she was Mushroom in the Masked Singer.
Her performance saw her come second in the 2022 final, beating off stiff competition in the form of Westlife singer Mark Feehily as Robobunny to claim the runner-up spot. Read more about her performance in the final here.
While Robobunny and Panda had bamboozled the judges right until the end, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan had been convinced since the start of the final that it was the Welsh singer behind Mushroom.
Speaking on Monday, February 14, on BBC Breakfast, Charlotte said that she watched the final with family and friends, she said: "It was really difficult keeping the secret.
"The reveal was amazing. I had family and friends over, they know my voice pretty well, so it was difficult keeping it a secret by the end.
"I think it was my third week in, when my voice started going more operatic that people were asking if it was me. It was very difficult keeping the secret, but it is a really fun show.
"It was loads of fun from start to end, picking the songs and trying to disguise my voice. It was a barrel of laughs."
She admitted that it had been harder to disguise her voice when she hit the high notes, but there had been some opportunity to have a play around with different tones.
"When it started to get into the bigger songs, it was more difficult," she said and admitted she had not idea that the winner Panda was Natalie Imbruglia. "I think that Panda was a very deserving winner. We did lots of cwtching on stage, and she deserved to win."
The Cardiff-born singer also explained why she picked the Mushroom disguise, and it was because she is really "passionate" about nature and conservation.
"I think that mushrooms have a really important part of play," she said. "They are some of the biggest organisms on earth, and what they do for the soil is amazing. I am really passionate about mushrooms."
