Indeed, Sportal now claim the chances of Gineitis being Parkhead bound are seriously reduced due to the "changed situation" of not reaching the league phase.
It now looks like Danny Rohl 's RB Salzburg will win the race to sign the Lithuania international.
Martin O'Neill conceded post-match that the disappointing result could impact the club's efforts in the transfer market.
He said: "I said last week that if you could qualify for the Champions League, there would be players that would want to come on that very basis.
"That’s not going to be the case, but we’ll see."
