A new plastic pouch pioneered by a centre in Senegal to store and distribute vaccines aims to help Africa speed up the fight against Covid-19 and other diseases.
The Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD) has developed the innovative sterile pouches, which can store up to 200 doses of vaccine, replacing smaller glass vials. The pouches will help a new manufacturing plant on the West African site as it aims to manufacture 300 million Covid shots per year for use in Africa, starting in the autumn of 2022.
