Finance and Health Minister T. Harish Rao wondered how the BJP leaders perform padayatra in the State despite hiking prices of petroleum products and not buying paddy from the State.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating cattle hostel and milk collection centre built at a cost of ₹2 crore with EGS and CSR funds at Narmeta village in Nanganur mandal of Siddipet district on Thursday, Mr. Harish Rao asked: “Do the BJP leaders have the face to the go to people? How can they do padayatra after hiking price of petroleum products, gas price and proving unable to provide employment despite vacancies,?” He said people would grill BJP leaders. if they took up padayatra.
Referring to Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, the Finance Minister dared him to restore ₹25,000 crore reduced for NREGA works in the budget before criticising the State Government.
Mr. Harish Rao asked people to decide on which side they are as the BJP has been hiking prices whereas TRS is distributing assets to people. He felt that there should be a wide range of discussion on the issue.
“It was always summer in the rule of combined state without water. But after formation of our state the situation has completely changed. Kaleshwaram project was completed in record time with the efforts made by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. Despite severe summer we are able to get drinking water and irrigation water,” said Mr. Harish Rao adding that it was only in Telangana that there was 16 per cent reservation in sanitation, security services and diet agencies.
The Minister said that Narendra Modi was the only Prime Minister who was not buying paddy from farmers in Telangana and this exposed the real face of BJP.
