How Alexandre Lacazette supported Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey during Tottenham masterclass

Arsenal secured a huge 3-1 win over Tottenham in the North London Derby on Saturday, winning 3-1 at the Emirates to stay top of the Premier League table. Goals from Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka secured the victory, also bridging the gap to four points over Spurs.

With a busy fixture schedule ahead in October and November, due to the break for the World Cup, the side have got off to the ideal start to the run. "It [momentum] is [important]," Mikel Arteta explained after the game. "Because the next match in the Europa League here is going to be really tough, but we have that now and it’s so powerful and meaningful for us.

"The next step is to go and do many other things. But we have to, first of all, have what we have, and with that group of players, I think it’s much nicer and easier that something can happen."

There has been plenty of support for the start made by Arteta's men, who have only fell to defeat once this season at the hands of Manchester United - even though that was a game that could have swung in their favour. Former managers and players have all shown their support and encouragement in recent weeks.

The latest is ex-striker Alexandre Lacazette, who took to Instagram to praise both Partey and Xhaka for their goals, with videos of both strikes. The Frenchman left the club in the summer, but clearly wanted to praise the midfield duo that he played with for many years.

It continues a feel good factor around the club at this current moment in time, who are still on top of the Premier League and with a squad that appear to fear no occasion so far this season. It remains to be seen if they can continue that fine form and bounce back when it does get tough, but they have put themselves in the most ideal situation so far.
