It’s hard to think of a recent Super GT champion who has taken such an unlikely path to the top as Kazuki Hiramine, who alongside team-mate Bertrand Baguette ended a 27-year title drought for Team Impul this year.

Belgian ace Baguette is known to international audiences for his exploits in IndyCar, Formula Renault 3.5 and the World Endurance Championship. Other title-winners such as Naoki Yamamoto - who partnered Jenson Button to the 2018 crown - plus 2021 champions Sho Tsuboi and Yuhi Sekiguchi are active in Super Formula, further boosting their profile.
