UK residents could be asked to limit their energy use at home to reduce the risk of power blackouts this winter, an expert has warned.
Energy consultancy Watt-Logic said that households could be asked to have their dinner at different times or avoid using some appliances at certain times of the day. Consultant Kathryn Porter said that low levels of wind may leave Brits at risk of having to go without power, The Mirror reports .
Porter told the BBC : "Unfortunately, as each winter goes by, the risk of blackouts is increasing because we have been replacing thermal and nuclear generation with intermittent renewables. That makes us vulnerable in times when wind output is low.
