House frozen in time for sale in 'sought after' location

A home with a retro-style interior is on the market in an affluent Merseyside suburb.

The huge four-bedroom home with generous gardens is located on Crescent Avenue in the sought after area of Formby.

Crescent Avenue itself is a short walk from Formby Train Station, the beach and the National Trust woodland the area is famed for.

The property is on the market with Purplebricks for £525,000, who called it "delightful".

The current owner has decorated in a quirky style, with retro items including a vintage gramophone.

There are three reception rooms, one of which has been knocked through to create a large living and dining space. The lounge area boasts a log burning stove in a huge bare brick recess.

The second living room has a beautiful curved bay window and another statement fireplace, this time with colourful tile. There is mid-century furniture and upholstery dotted throughout, including burnt orange carpets and olive green sofas.

The long, galley-style kitchen has been kept relatively neutral, but also has a vintage feel with its choice of furniture and ornaments.

The four bedrooms are on the first floor along with a family bathroom and toilet, which are currently separate.

Outside there is a huge rear garden complete with an outhouse, which is currently been used as a utility room.

A house going up for sale on Crescent Avenue is a rare occurrence. Just two properties have changed hands on the stretch of road this century.

In 2001, one home sold for £208,000 while another was bought for a whopping £650,000 in November 2020.

In Formby overall, the average properties price was £386,714 in the last year, 11% higher than the previous 12 month and 10% up on the 2020 peak of £351,375.

Semi-detached homes fetched £290,948 on average while detached homes went for £589,415.
