Hour by hour weather forecast as overnight snow leaves lorries stuck on A68

Northumbria Police have urged commuters to avoid the A68 following reports that lorries are stuck due to snow as the cold weather continues. Police officers are advising drivers to avoid the road as there are delays in the area.

The Met Office issued the region with a weather warning for ice which is expected to remain in place until 10am on Friday morning. The weather forecast for Friday states: "Another chilly day, although feeling less cold in the sunny spells.

"There will be further wintry showers throughout the day, these will be most frequent along the coast, with hill snow and hail possible. A breezy day for many. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
