Houghton-le-Spring woman's delight after 'miracle surgery' saves pet dog's sight after eye was pierced by thorn

A Houghton-Le-Spring dog-owner has thanked vets for performing "miracle" surgery and saving the sight of a very special pet.

Andrea Bishop feared the worst when she was told four-year-old Kona - a pointer - had suffered a horrific injury. The dog's right eye had been pierced by a thorn and this become embedded in her cornea.

However, Chris Dixon of Veterinary Vision - a specialist vets - was able to carry out a delicate operation to save Kona's eye. The dog is especially special to owner Andrea, as she adopted Kona four years ago, shortly after the suicide of her partner.
