A former manor house hotel near Bristol Airport has been sold for around £2.6m. Winford Manor in North Somerset has been acquired by private venture Instol, having previously been let to multinational hospitality chain OYO Hotels.
The property is not currently run as a hotel, but is used for other types of residential and commercial dwelling. According to its website, the venue is expected to reopen as a hotel in 2024.
Instol, which lists Devon-based Reka Hamvai and Gerard Punch as directors on Companies House, has bought 100% shares in the hotel’s holding company - Winford Holdings. It lists the appointment of Antonio Savvas Kounnis as director, replacing Kenn Herskind Jorgensen.
The 32-bedroom property is located in 7.5-acres of landscaped gardens and woodlands, eight miles from Bristol City Centre and two miles from Bristol Airport.
Christie & Co, which handled the sale, said the accommodation’s new owners had already begun a "sizeable" refurbishment project, including a renovation of the existing rooms and the addition of several more.
Richard Thomas, senior business agent at Christie & Co, said the asset had received “significant interest” during the sale process.
Mr Thomas said: “The opportunities that the hotel’s proximity to the airport provides are endless although it is unfair to label the manor as just an airport hotel, with a wealth of potential for a country house hotel.
“The property benefits from a biomass boiler, which helps to keep energy costs down. This was a huge appeal for the buyers, in line with their ESG targets, and this is becoming a higher priority for many other prospective buyers. We were delighted to act for Kenn in the sale and wish him every success in his future endeavours.”
