Hosepipe ban announced for millions more UK homes

Millions of Thames Water customers are facing a hosepipe ban, announced by the utility in response to exceptionally dry conditions and high demand.

The restriction, officially known as a temporary use ban (TUB), takes effect at 00.01am on Thursday, though Thames Water is urging households to comply immediately.
