Horse dead and woman hospitalised following horror crash in Darlington

A horse has died and a woman has been taken to hospital following a collision which closed a major road on Sunday morning.

Shortly before 11am, police were called to reports of a collision between two cars, a horse, and rider near the Foresters Arms in Coatham Mundeville, Darlington. It is reported that the horse sustained "significant injures" and sadly had to be euthanised at the scene.

The female horse rider also suffered injuries to her leg and was taken to hospital for treatment. The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident, but has now been reopened to the public.
