Thousands of fans watch in trepidation when the UK version of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! is aired and features British celebrities trying to conquer trials in the Australian jungle involving snakes, spiders and other creepy crawlies. Australia also has its own version of the popular TV series - which just happens to take place in South Africa.
The Australian version is currently airing and viewers were left in shock after rugby union player Nick Cummins was bitten by a snake during a trial. He had to put his hand into boxes with different animals and creepy crawlies, including the snake, to collect stars for the camp. Although the snake was non-venomous, Nick was left with a bleeding hand after the reptile clenched his jaw around it.
While others have screamed at far less, Nick dealt with the situation very calmly - although host Julia Morris had her hand over her mouth while watching.
Nick said: "Holy snappers!" while co-host Chris Brown reassured Nick that the snake was not venomous. With his hand bleeding, Nick said: "Wow, that was intense man" and a medic came to check if he was alright.
Julia added it was the most "hard-earned" three stars she had ever seen in her life. Nick then added the bite was "awesome" while receiving treatment from the medic. You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.
Nick goes by the nickname The Honey Badger and played for the Western Force in Super Rugby and for Coca-Cola Red Sparks in the Japanese Top League. He has represented Australia in international matches for both the Australian Sevens team and the Australian rugby team and his usual position was the wing.
It comes just weeks before UK viewers will watch a new version of I'm A Celebrity which has been shot in South Africa and features past stars of the show.
