Hormonal aberrations are considered crucial pathophysiological changes and potential targets for innovative hormonally based pharmacotherapies. Psych neuroendocrinology represents a new approach that integrates psychiatry, psychology, neurology, neurobiology, neurosciences, and endocrinology. This approach focuses on uncovering the impact of nervous and endocrine system functions and dysfunctions on changes in the patient's psychological status. It aims to demonstrate how psychological dysfunction can affect the rare physiology and pose challenges to the nervous and endocrine system. Furthermore, it underscores the significance of exploring the interconnectedness of mind, brain, and hormones. Psycho-neurological investigation generally follows three paths: observing alterations in endogenous hormone levels in primary psychiatric illness, examining psychiatric concomitants of hormonal dysregulation in primary endocrine illness, and studying the behavioral effects of exogenously administered hormones.
