Honkai Star Rail – Tingyun build and ascension guide

Keep your party going strong in the toughest fights with the best Honkai Star Rail Tingyun build. This support hero follows the Path of Harmony, as most support characters do, and she dishes out lightning damage. However, her main strength is topping up your party’s energy and raising their attack. Tingyun earned a top spot in our Honkai Star Rail tier list, and while this is just the game’s launch version, her excellent support capabilities mean she’ll likely remain one of the best characters in the RPG for a long time to come.

Honkai Star Rail – Tingyun: Skills

Tingyun’s skill is Soothing Melody, an ability grants one ally an attack buff and applies the Benediction effect to them for three turns. Allies with Benediction add lightning damage based on their own attack to any basic, skill, or ultimate attack, and they’ll also perform a follow-up lightning attack against any enemy Tingyun hits

Her ultimate, Amidst the Rejoicing Clouds, gives the targeted ally 50 energy, which gets you quite a bit closer to firing off that character’s ultimate, and increases their overall damage for three turns. Tingyun is an excellent support character, who lets your party’s main damage dealer shine, though if you’re after a damage dealer, you should be looking elsewhere

Tingyun’s Eidolons power up the Benediction effect even further, and the last one provides even more energy from her ultimate. It’s only 10 more energy, though, so don’t feel like you’re missing out on something incredible if you never unlock it.

Honkai: Star Rail – Tingyun: best Light Cones

Harmony characters only have one 5-star Light Cone as of the launch version: But the Battle Isn’t Over. It might be Bronya’s signature Light cone, but it suits Tingyun perfectly as well thanks to the extra energy it gives the equipping character. It restores an extra skill point and buffs the next action.

Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds is a solid 4-star alternative. This one applies a random effect – attack buff, critical buff, or energy regeneration – at the start of battle. It’s not exactly reliable, but it gets the job done. Dance, Dance, Dance is another good pick, since it bumps up the party’s place in the turn order after the wearer uses their ultimate.

Finally, for 3-star choices, we’re going with Meshing Cogs, which gives the party a speed buff, or Meditation, which restores the user’s energy after they take a hit.

Best Light Cones for Tingyun:

  • The Battle Isn’t Over (5-Star)
  • Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds (4-Star)
  • Past and Future (4-Star)
  • Meshing Cogs (3-Star)
  • Meditation (3-Star)

Honkai: Star Rail – Tingyun: Best Relics

Raising Tingyun’s attack is your priority with Tingyun’s Relics, since the attack buff her skill applies scales on her own attack. Energy regeneration and speed are the two other aspects you should prioritize

Best Relic Sets for Tingyun:

  • Musketeer of Wild Wheat (4) – +12 percent attack, +10 percent normal attack damage, and +6 percent speed.
  • Thief of Shooting Meteor (4) – +16 percent Break Effect and another +1 6percent Break Effect at four pieces, regenerates three energy when the wearer inflicts Weakness Break on an enemy.

Best Planar Ornaments for Tingyun:

  • Space Sealing Station (2) – +12 percent attack, another +12 percent attack if wearer’s speed is higher than 120.

Prioritize the following Relic and Planar Ornament stats for Tingyun:

  • Head – HP (Primary), attack percent, speed, Break Effect percent, attack
  • Hands – attack (Primary), attack percent, speed, Break Effect percent, Effect Resistance percent
  • Body – attack percent (Primary), speed, Break Effect percent, attack, Effect Resistance percent
  • Feet – attack percent (Primary), Speed, Break Effect percent, attack, Effect Resistance percent
  • Planar Sphere – attack percent (Primary), Speed, Break Effect percent, attack, Effect Resistance percent
  • Link Rope – Energy Regeneration Rate percent (Primary), attack percent, Speed, Break Effect percent, attack

Honkai: Star Rail – Tingyun: Best Teams

Tingyun’s top-notch support abilities make her an excellent fit on basically any team, but for now, this one would be ideal for her.

  • Seele (Main DPS), Bronya (Support), Tingyun (Support), Bailu (Healer)

This team focuses on maximizing Seele’s damage. Bronya can buff her allies’ attack and critical hit damage, while manipulating turn order so Seele acts again more quickly. Bailu keeps everyone healthy, and Tingyun buffs Seele’s damage and restores the team’s energy.

Tingyun is great with Yanqing, Trailblazer (Physical), Gepard, Clara, and Dan Heng as well, who benefit from her skill and ultimate.

Honkai: Star Rail – Tingyun: Ascension materials

Tingyun requires these to reach level 80:

  • Credits x246,000
  • Immortal Scionette x12
  • Immortal Aeroblossom x13
  • Immortal Lumintwig x12
  • lightning Crown of the Past Shadow x50

You can get Immortal items from Mara-Struck Soldiers and other enemies in Cloudford and Stargazer Navalia, as well as in the Simulated Universe. You can create or exchange them through the Omni-Synthesizer on the Astral Express and end up with quite a few from your Daily Assignments, too.

Lightning Crown of the Past Shadow comes from the Stagnant Shadow in the Corridor of Fading Echoes or through the exchange. The best source of Credits is the Great Mine Calyx.

This is what Tingyun needs to upgrade her Traces.

  • Credits x2,400,000
  • Immortal Scionette x28
  • Immortal Aeroblossom x42
  • Immortal Lumintwig x42
  • Harmonic Tune x12
  • Ancestral Hymn x54
  • Stellaris Symphony x105
  • Destroyer’s Final Road x12
  • Tracks of Destiny x5

Harmonic Tune, Ancestral Hymn, and Stellaris Symphony drop in the Calyx at the Robot Settlement in Belobog’s Underworld, and as always, you can create high-level materials by using up lower-level materials in the Omni-Synthesizer on the Astral Express.

Destroyer’s Final Road is rarer material only gained from the Echo of War (Supply Zone) domain, while Tracks of Destiny can be obtained during time-limited events, the Embers Exchange, the Nameless Honor, or as a Simulated Universe Points Reward. Since these are more limited, make sure to think carefully before deciding which skill to upgrade. You don’t have to upgrade all of them.
