THE BREAKDOWN
- Honda was surprised by the number of Passport TrailSport buyers in 2025.
- 80 percent of buyers opted for the TrailSport model.
- The CR-V remains Honda's top seller for 2025.
Honda had a successful year. The company moved over 1.4 million vehicles in the US in 2025, marking a modest 0.5-percent increase compared to 2024. The CR-V remained Honda’s top seller, but even executives were shocked by the success of the new Passport.
Honda sold a record number of Passport models in 2025—a hearty 55,231 of them. That number is up 70 percent compared to 2024, with the rugged TrailSport model making up the brunt of sales.
According to Honda, 80 percent of buyers opted for the Passport TrailSport over the base model. Even Honda’s Vice President of Automobile Sales, Lance Woelfer, admits that the number is "a little bit higher than we anticipated."
Honda's 2025 Sales

Even with the Passport selling better than expected, the top dog in the Honda lineup remains the CR-V. Honda sold a record 403,768 CR-V models in 2025. A distant second to the CR-V is the Civic sedan, with Honda moving 238,661 examples of its iconic compact sedan.
Honda also found sustained success with its subcompact HR-V; the company sold 148,771 of them this past year. Meanwhile, Honda sold 150,196 Accord sedans and 124,209 Pilot SUVs. Somewhat surprisingly, Honda also sold 88,402 Odyssey minivans.
Here’s what Honda’s entire sales chart looked like for 2025:

| Honda Civic | 238,661 Units |

Motor1's Take: Frankly? We’re not all too shocked that the new Passport is already this successful. The new TrailSport model is a huge improvement over its predecessor in nearly every way. It looks better, it’s nicer to drive, and it’s more capable—with real, genuine off-road equipment.
We can only imagine how well the Passport is bound to do in 2026 with a full year’s worth of sales.
