Homey has introduced the Pro Mini, a compact, affordable version of its $400 flagship Pro hub. Priced at $199, it offers the same powerful Homey OS for managing diverse smart devices.
Pre-orders are open in the US and Canada, with European availability slated for 2025.
Smart home brand Homey has unveiled the Homey Pro Mini, a more compact and affordable version of its flagship $400 Homey Pro hub. The new model offers the same powerful Homey OS software, enabling seamless control of a wide range of connected devices, from the best smart lights to the best robot vacuum cleaners.
The launch follows Homey's introduction of its Dashboards feature, enabling users to fully customize their personal control panels. Whilst this feature will be available in the new hub, the Pro Mini offers a more compact design with fewer radios and reduced processing power, providing a cost-effective alternative.
Priced at $199, the Homey Pro Mini is now available for pre-order in the US and Canada, with European availability expected in 2025.
The Homey Pro Mini hub enables users to run smart home automations locally, eliminating the need for cloud connections. It also supports devices using radios like Thread and Zigbee, but unlike the Pro, lacks support for Z-Wave, BLE and IR. However, these can be added by connecting it to a Homey Bridge, priced at $69.
With reduced processing power compared to the Pro, the Pro Mini is designed for up to 20 integrations or Homey Apps. The Pro Mini should suffice for standard setups as most users typically use 14 integrations, but Homey recommends upgrading to the Pro for more advanced smart home configurations.
