The field is set for the 2023 Home Run Derby in Seattle’s T-Mobile Park on Monday night, but it’s just as important to know who’s tossing them the baseballs they have to hit out.
That’s because we’ve seen how important it’s been to have consistency — hello, Pete Alonso’s pitcher — and when it’s a problem to have pitches go all over the place (see: Ronald Acuna Jr.’s pitcher last year).
So if you’re wondering who’s tossing to which star at the plate on Monday? You’ve come to the right place.
Here’s the full list of Home Run Derby pitchers as we get set for all the action:
1
Luis Robert Jr.
He’s getting Luis Sierra, who is the White Sox bullpen coach.
2
Pete Alonso
This time around, it’ll be Mike Friedland (per ESPN), who was the Mets first baseman’s coach on a travel team when Alonso was younger.
3
Mookie Betts
That would be Clayton McCullough, who is the first base coach for the Dodgers.
4
Adolis Garcia
The Rangers’ third base coach, Tony Beasley, has the honors.
5
Randy Arozarena
Tomas Francisco, who is a major league field coordinator for the Rays and a former catcher, will be on the hill.
6
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
When he nearly won in 2019, it was Blue Jays manager John Schneider who threw to him, and that’ll be the case this time.
7
Julio Rodriguez
Per MLB.com: “Franmy Peña, Rodríguez’s friend, will pitch to Julio again, as he did last year.”
8
Adley Rutschman
His dad, Randy Rutschman, will be throwing to the Orioles catcher.
