A tribunal has upheld an almost $20,000 stamp duty against a home buyer who failed to meet a required one-year residence period after losing his probationary job, finding he should have considered the risk of employment loss before buying the property.
The man bought an apartment in October 2025, with settlement taking place on November 24, while working in the specialised field of bitumen surfacing.
