The New York Giants will hold their local pro day on Thursday and prospects from all over the area will be attending.
Among them will be Holy Cross offensive lineman C.J. Hanson, reports Art Stapleton of USA TODAY.
Holy Cross offensive lineman C.J. Hanson visiting #NYGiants as part of their local Pro Day on Thursday, per sources.
Hanson has C/G flex and met with NYG at Combine and at his Pro Day. I’ve heard Ali Marpet’s name more than once with Hanson mentioned – not necessarily as prospect…— Art Stapleton (@art_stapleton) March 31, 2024
As Stapleton notes, Hanson has already met with the Giants twice — first at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis and later at his pro day.
The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Hanson is a three-year starter and team captain. He can play both center and guard, but most of his time has been spent at right guard. In 2023, he was named to the Stats Perform All-America Third Team and All-Patriot League First Team.
NFL Network draft analyst Lance Zierlein views Hanson as a Day 3 pick or priority undrafted free agent.
Hanson plays with terrific technique and gets into Phase 1 of his pass and run blocks with good balance and positioning. His hand placement as a run blocker is above average, while his pass punch is well-timed and accurate. Hanson does the right things, but he simply lacks the play strength needed to match up with NFL defensive tackles. Hanson could be a potential late-round or free-agent target for a team looking to add muscle and mass during a year on the practice squad.
In addition to Hanson, Rutgers cornerback Max Melton and Monmouth quarterback Marquez McCray are also confirmed to be attending the Giants’ local pro day.
