Blue Bloods star Treat Williams shared tragic final post just hours before fatal crash

Treat Williams shared one final post just hours before he died at the age of 71.

The Hollywood icon, who starred on both the stage and on screen, died on Monday evening following a motorcycle crash in Vermont.

It has been reported that the incident happened on Route 30 by Long Trail Auto near Dorset, Vermont at around 5pm.

Jacob Gribble, fire chief for Dorset, said the tragic incident involved Williams' motorcycle and a single car, where the driver of the car did not see the turning bike.

The actor was the only injured party in the crash and he was airlifted to hospital in New York before he was pronounced dead.

Right before his death, Treat took to Instagram share a video showing a tractor going through a field.

The clip showed the picturesque countryside, with wind heard in the background.

Captioning the post, he simply wrote: "Hay day."

Fans quickly flocked to the comments to pay their respects to the star, with one person writing: "I am devastated by this news… Truly devastated. What a sweet man. My heart goes out to his family."

Another said: "5 hours ago you were sharing your beautiful home with us & now we have lost you. Sending love to your loved ones. Godspeed."

"I am in shock at the news of your passing. My heart is breaking for your family," a third fan commented.

Treat's agent of 15 years, Barry McPherson, confirmed the news of his death in a statement released by People.

It read: "He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off. I'm just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented.

"He was an actor's actor. Filmmakers loved him. He's been the heart of the Hollywood since the late 1970s.

"He was really proud of his performance this year. He's been so happy with the work that I got him. He's had a balanced career."

Treat started his acting career as Danny Zuko in the stage production of Grease between 1972 and 1980. The hit film musical, which shot John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John to worldwide fame, was released in 1978.

He made his film debut in 1975 thriller Deadly Hero before embarking on his successful career over the next 48 years.

He had had roles in CSI and recently played Tom Selleck's character Frank Reagan's old partner Lenny in a recurring role on popular crime series Blue Bloods.

The actor is survived by wife Pam Van Sant and two children.
