The Seinfeld and Modern Family actor Philip Baker Hall has sadly passed away aged 90, it has been reported. Los Angeles Times sports writer Sam Farmer - who described himself as a "friend and neighbour" of the actor - posted about the star's death on Twitter.
Farmer said: "My neighbour, friend, and one of the wisest, most talented and kindest people I’ve ever met, Philip Baker Hall, died peacefully last night. He was surrounded by loved ones. The world has an empty space in it."
The Mirror reports that a cause of death has not yet been confirmed. However, it was known that Philip did suffer from emphysema due to having pneumonia as a child.

Philip's condition meant towards the end of his successful career which included starring in hit sitcoms Seinfeld and Modern Family, he would only be able to film for a few minutes at a time. Tributes have flooded in for the actor after news of his death was reported.
@SeanFennessey said on Twitter that he was "simply one of the greats". @RJCity1 said: "Philip Baker Hall should have won an Emmy for playing Lt. Joe Bookman, library cop. RIP."
@Todd_Spence also said on Twitter: "Rest in peace, Philip Baker Hall. The man did so much great work, but I'll always love him as Mr. Bookman, the Library Cop from SEINFELD."
@LazlosGhost also added: "R.I.P. Philip Baker Hall, an incredible actor who could command your attention, make you laugh, or break your heart no matter the size of the role."
Philip's career started back in 1977 when he landed his first role on TV on an episode of Good Times. Throughout his long career, he racked up over 200 guest appearances on different TV shows.
He also starred on the big screen on several occasions in films such as Boogie Nights, Bruce Almighty and The Insider. Towards the end of his career, he appeared on the American comedy programme Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Phillip leaves behind his wife Holly Wolfle and their two daughters, Adella and Ann. He also has two daughters from his first marriage to Dianne Lewis.
