Holly Willoughby to co-host This Morning with Josie Gibson as Phillip Schofield isolates

Holly Willoughby will be joined by Josie Gibson when she returns to This Morning on Thursday, it has been confirmed.

Holly's usual co-host Phillip Schofield is currently isolating at home after testing positive for Covid.

The mother-of-three has been absent from the ITV daytime show due to other work commitments, but she's finally returning this week.

She will be joined by former Big Brother star Josie, who has already hosted with Phillip in the past and was very popular with viewers watching at home.

Rochelle Humes confirmed the news at the end of Wednesday's show when she said: "Holly and Josie will be here tomorrow when they'll be chatting to Spiderman star Tom Holland about his new movie."

Fans of This Morning were delighted with the confirmation of Thursday's hosts and took to Twitter to comment.

"Yay Holly is back tomorrow #ThisMorning," one person posted.

Another tweeted: "Josie and holly! what a surprise #ThisMorning."

Wednesday's show saw Vernon Kay join Rochelle on the sofa, and the day before that it was Alison Hammond alongside the former Saturdays singer.

Josie Gibson has previously hosted This Morning on a few occasions with Phillip Schofield (ITV)

During a discussion with his co-host and in studio guest Gyles Brandreth about David Beckham's revelation that Victoria Beckham has only eaten a select type of food for the last 20 years, Vernon shared a little known fact about This Morning.

During their chat, Vernon said he enjoyed a "stereotypical breakfast" of vegetables and poultry.

"Veg and poultry? At breakfast?" Gyles quizzed as he puzzled over Vernon's food choice.

He replied: "Yeah yeah because your stomach doesn't know it's breakfast time, feed me some carbs and proteins."

However, Gyles disagreed as he added: "I say your stomach does know it's breakfast time."

"Whatever floats your boat! We've got cake a bit later on!" Rochelle said as she discussed what was coming up on the show.

Revealing a show secret, Vernon said: "At least we've got plastic fruit!" as Rochelle replied: "You never know when you might need it."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub.
