Holly Willoughby's Phillip Schofield statement brutally pulled apart by David Baddiel

Holly Willoughby 's much talked about 'Are you OK?' speech left many people scratching their heads when she retuned to the This Morning sofa on Monday.

The 42-year-old had a two-week extended half term break and on her return she addressed Phillip Schofield's swift departure from the show and ITV.

Many got chatting about it and comedian David Baddiel wasn't long in tweeting about her speech.

In a scathing tweet, he wrote: "When Holly Willoughby said ‘Firstly, are you OK?’ I genuinely thought she was talking to someone behind camera, before realising that of course she was talking to us, the great British deeply-traumatised by everything's that happened on an ITV morning show public.” (sic)

David's tweet has attracted over 3.1million views and 1,875 replies, with one joking: "I’m struggling to cope if I’m honest."

Holly Willoughby returned to This Morning on Monday (ITV)

While another wrote: "Hang on a minute...So when's Oprah doing the Holly and Phil interview?"

The next day, David suggested he was "going to start every day with that from now on", asking his followers: "Firstly, are you ok?

"Sorry, that was an idiotic thing to say. I meant - deep breath - are *you* ok?"

He added: "The good thing about this is that all your replies about your lives are very nice and interesting. Maybe Holly was on to something."

This comes after several celebs have appeared to make a dig at Holly's speech.

On BBC's Springwatch, presenter Michaela Strachan said: "Everyone was on the edge of their seats watching that, how is everyone feeling?

"There is a lot to process isn't there? Emotions are all over the place."

Whilst Amanda Holden appeared to take a more obvious swipe at the This Morning star on her Instagram.

Showing off an all-white jumpsuit, Amanda asked to camera: "Hello! It is Tuesday, are you okay?"
