Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield defend Molly-Mae Hague's daughter's name after she's forced into Instagram change

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have shared their thoughts after Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury revealed their daughter's name. The couple announced the birth of their first child together on Monday (January 30).

Molly-Mae and Tommy, both 23, made the announcement a week after their baby girl arrived into the world on January 23. The new parents shared the date their daughter was born with a smiling picture of the doting parents holding their bundle of joy while still in the hospital.

The sweet black and white snap was simply captioned "23/01/23," and was quickly flooded with congratulatory messages. Molly-Mae then returned to social media 24 hours later, on Tuesday (January 31), to confirm her daughter's much-anticipated name.

The influencer shared a photo of her daughter lying in her cot in her stunning white nursery, and her name was written in lights above the newborn. "Bambi" she wrote alongside a white love heart for her precious bundle of joy with Manchester boxer Tommy.

Fans flocked to say they loved the Disney-inspired name and it comes after fans previously speculated that Molly-Mae was going to call her first child Cloud or Halo. Among those to respond was Paris Fury, who is married to Tommy's heavyweight boxing champion brother Tyson, told Molly-Mae: "Her name is just as cute as her. Loved seeing yous today she is absolutely perfect x"

Bambi is a name of Italian origin and is thought to derive from the word 'bambino', which means 'child'. But others couldn't help but think of the deer made famous by the Disney classic. Some trolls also criticised the name Molly-Mae and Tommy had chosen for their firstborn child in the comments.

But the defiant mum opted to make a change to her Instagram, removing her millions of followers from having the ability to comment on the name reveal post. And she didn't let the negative comments phase her as after the big reveal, Molly-Mae posted a video of herself holding her daughter while filming the pair walking towards a mirror in their plush home.

Writing on top of the clip, new mum Molly-Mae gushed: "I am obsessed with being your mum Bambi." Molly-Mae and Tommy's choice of baby names was also discussed on the latest episode of This Morning.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were back at the helm of the ITV daytime show on Wednesday (February 1) and kicked off the show by being joined by Vanessa Feltz and Tom Swarbrick live in the studio for the latest edition of This Morning's View in which they discuss and debate the latest news headlines.

Among the topics was Molly-Mae and Tommy's choice of name for their baby girl. "Cute," Holly, 41, said as Phillip read out the headline. "It sparked conversation, should parents be thoughtful about what they name the children," Phillip said before adding: "Social media users have helpfully pointed out that Bambi is a boy in the animated film but neither of us even knew that."

While Vanessa asked: "What does it matter?" Mum-of-three Holly quickly jumped in to say: "Shall we first say congratulations to Molly-Mae and Tommy for their baby because that's the most important thing. They've brought a healthy life into this world and they're absolutely delighted."

Phillip, 60, then jumped in and shouted: "Is it anyone's business what you call your baby?" before they had a brief discussion about baby names.
