Eamonn Holmes has accused Holly Willoughby of 'faking' her friendship with This Morning's Alison Hammond.
The veteran broadcaster, 63, made the claim in an explosive interview on GB News last night when he spoke about his former colleague Phillip Schofield, who has admitted to having an affair with a young runner while on the ITV show.
While Phil, 61, has quit This Morning, Holly, 42, is expected to return, with Alison Hammond, 48, in the running to become her co-host.
However, Eamonn, who used to work with the Wylde Moon guru, said he doesn't buy the mum-of-three's 'sudden' friendship with the bubbly Brummie, who has been on This Morning for 13 years.
Speaking to Dan Wootton, he said: "This nonsense about Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond as her best friend and [Holly] was at Alison's birthday party...Alison Hammond goes to Holly Willoughby's select nights out with her friends...
"This wouldn't have happened two years ago. Are you kidding? Alison Hammond has been on the programme 13 years and I'm sure there was very little contact between her and the presenters.
"People just use other people and it's disgusting."
The Mirror has reached out to reps for Holly and Alison.
Eamonn didn't hold back in the bombshell interview in which he spoke about the fall out at ITV following Phillip's confession in which the father-of-two admitted to lying to his wife, ITV and his agency.
The GB News star accused the broadcaster of a "cover-up", however after the news of Phillip's affair was announced, ITV confirmed it had investigated "rumours of a relationship" between the former This Morning host and a younger colleague.
A spokesperson told the Mirror: "When rumours of a relationship between Phillip Schofield and an employee of ITV first began to circulate in early 2020 ITV investigated.
"Both parties were questioned and both categorically and repeatedly denied the rumours as did Phillip's then agency YMU.
"In addition, ITV spoke to a number of people who worked on This Morning and were not provided with, and did not find, any evidence of a relationship beyond hearsay and rumour.
"Phillip’s statement yesterday reveals that he lied to people at ITV, from senior management to fellow presenters, to YMU, to the media and to others over this relationship."
Eamonn tweeted after his interview: "A lie unchallenged becomes the Truth ...... not on my watch it doesn't Pip. Tonight is for all my workmates over the years who were frightened and ignored by you and your controlling , coercive behaviour. All you who no one listened to. I'm here for you."
A spokesperson for Phillip declined to comment when contacted by the Mirror over Eamonn's accusations.
