Holiday lodges set on old railway tracks open at Barry Goodsheds

A collection of cool, chic holiday lodges situated on an old railway track is set to be opening at the popular street food hot spot Goodsheds in Barry.

Created by The Urban Space and Travel Company, the GoodStay holiday lodges, just a stones throw from the main market stalls, are set to open in May 2023 and will feature five stunning abodes that uniquely embody and continue the Goodsheds collectives' theme of re-purposing various structures - such as shipping containers, a converted railway goods shed and train carriages - and turning them into something spectacular in which to house businesses and food spaces.

And these new homes from home are no different as each holiday stay is set atop an original railway line that's no longer in use - something that makes this modern market and food haven so unique.

Each will have its own private decking space on the tracks at the development - which at the end of April is hosting its first music festival, read more on that here - on Hood Road, and come with a fully equipped kitchen and diner as well as a shower room and double bedroom in which to fall into at the end of a jam-packed fun day traipsing around south Wales.

Needing some down time with a film? You're in luck as these cool stays also come with a Smart TV and free Wi-Fi. If the sun is beating down - as it so often does in Barry - you make make use of the lodges' terrace and soak up some vitamin D.

What's rather cool about this accommodation - in addition to the tracks on which they sit - is that they are constructed from a combination of new timber and reclaimed bogies - or railroad trucks - from Gatwick Express carriages.

Sleeping two people, prices for these mini homes begin at £85 a night. For more information, visit The Urban Space website.
