There are a number of locked doors you will find as you wander the halls of Hogwarts in Hogwarts Legacy. One of these types of doors have various magical creatures on the frames, and blackboards in the middle with pictures and numbers. When you first come across these, you likely don’t know how to open them, as there is no indication of how to solve them.
Here is how to solve the number puzzle doors in Hogwarts Legacy.
Hogwarts Legacy: How to solve the number puzzles
The key to these puzzles is addition. The numbers around the outside of each big circle add up to the big number in the middle. Some of these numbers are replaced by images of animals though which can make the puzzle a little difficult. There is a note somewhere around the school which translates numbers to animals, but there are two other ways to figure it out.
One is to look at the number of parts on each of the animals. The unicorn has one horn, the hydra has three heads, and the spider has eight legs. Some of these are harder to know than others though, as it can be difficult to understand what parts of the animal you need to count.
The other method is to count the animals around the doorframe. Starting on the left side of the door, you can see what number the animal is by counting around. The important thing to remember is that you need to count starting from zero instead of one. This means the numbers are from zero to nine, instead of one to ten.
With this knowledge and a bit of math, you should be able to figure out the central number. However, if you’re having a hard time counting, here’s the cheat sheet with all the animal numbers for you to refer to.
Hogwarts Legacy: What are the rewards behind the number puzzle doors?
Behind each number puzzle door, you will find a chest with a small reward. These are random but can contain one of two different kinds of items. These are either a kind of clothing you can wear, or a cosmetic item that you can add to the Room of Requirement.
