With less than a month until its release, the cast for video game Hogwarts Legacy has finally been revealed. What looks set to be one of the biggest games of the year launches on February 10, and its developer Avalanche Software has confirmed Hollywood star Simon Pegg will provide the voice for Hogwarts’ headmaster.
Published by Warner Bros., the open-world, action role-playing-game Hogwarts Legacy lets players roam the grounds of the prestigious school of witchcraft and wizardry as a new fifth-year student in the 1890s. As the game takes place a century before the beloved Harry Potter series, Hogwarts Legacy will feature a host of previously unseen witches and wizards.
Mission Impossible star Pegg is confirmed to be voicing Headmaster Phineas Nigellus Black, who is Sirius Black’s great-great-grandfather. Phineas had a brief appearance in the films as a portrait hanging in Professor Dumbledore’s office, but this is the first time fans will really get to know the “the least popular headmaster in the history of Hogwarts.”

The official Hogwarts Legacy Twitter account released a video of Pegg discussing the Slytherin, who he describes as “pompous, disinterested [and] a bit of an idiot.” Pegg said: “He’s not a good headmaster, I think he would've taken on the role because it’s a prestigious position.
“I don’t think he has any interest in children’s education or being a role model. What he wants is the kudos of being the headmaster of the greatest wizarding school in the world.
Reflecting on his debut in the franchise, Pegg said he is “extremely excited to be a part of the Harry Potter universe.”

“I watched all those movies and always expected a role. Virtually every British actor has been in the Wizarding World films apart from me. And so, to get the role of one of the Black family, that’s a cool thing because Sirius was always my favorite character in the books.
“So it feels really good. It feels like something’s finally been put right.”
Avalanche also revealed several other voice actors appearing in the game, including one who will be familiar to Potter fans. Luke Youngblood – who played Gryffindor Quidditch commentator Lee Jordan in the films – will play Ravenclaw student Everett Clopton.
Sebastian Croft and Amelia Gething will provide the voices for the game’s customizable playable avatars. Downton Abbey actress Lesley Nicol will voice Deputy Headmistress Matilda Weasley.
Kandace Caine plays Divination Professor Onai, while Sohm Kapila voices Astronomy professor Satyavati Shah. Asif Ali will voice another Ravenclaw student called Amit Thakkar.
Gryffindor house ghost Nearly Headless Nick and the Sorting hat will be voiced by Call of Duty voice actor Jason Anthony.
