Hoda Kotb embracing the idea of 'suburban mom life' after quitting Today

Hoda Kotb has been embracing the idea of "suburban mom life" since announcing her exit 'The Today Show'.

The 60-year-old journalist - who has adoprive daughters Haley, seven, and four-year-old Hop - will leave behind her role as co-anchor on the NBC breakfast show on January 10 after nearly two decades on air and admitted it is all the "little things" she is looking forward to doing now with all of her free time.

She told US TV show 'Extra' "Every day it’s a little bit different. I’m a terrible goodbye person. It is not my thing. I leave every party early, and this

process has been almost a daily goodbye. Like, I’ve been hugged more in this last week than probably in almost the entirety of my life and it’s been really pretty magical.

"It’s little things, it’s taking them to school, it’s being at the games, you know, it’s being present, and that’s all I want. Suburban mom life, let’s go!"

Hoda has invested in a minivan for when she has officially left the show and joked that her co-star Jenna Bush Hager "doesn't recognise" that sort of behaviour from her at all.

She said: "I got a minivan. We’re in it. I didn’t know I was going to be such a suburban mom, but I turned. Jenna [Bush Hager] keeps going, ‘Who are you? Like, I do not recognise you.'"

But the TV star wants her daughters to understand that they were the "most important decision" she ever made as she steps back from her career to spend more time with them.

She added: "I want them to take away that the most important decision that I ever made in my life was having them and the most important people in my life are them. That’s what I want them to know."
