A hiker has been saved by mercy crews after suffering a horror 40ft fall into a gorge at a Scots beauty spot.
A multi-emergency response descended onto the Devil's Pulpit near Loch Lomond at 8.36am today. Firefighters, Mountain Rescue teams and ambulance crews were drafted into the rescue mission, which took over an hour to complete.
A swift water rescue technician also examined the scene before the explorer was recovered from the water and handed over to the Scottish Ambulance Service. Their injuries and current condition is unknown.
The stand-down was given at 9.54am.
A statement from Lomond Mountain Rescue Team reads: "At 8.36am, Scottish Fire and Rescue requested Lomond Mountain Rescue Team's assistance at Finnich Glen (Devil's Pulpit) with a casualty who had fallen approximately 40ft into the gorge.
"The initial assessment by a swift water rescue technician was quickly followed by extraction by Lomond MRT before being handed over to the Scottish Ambulance Service. The stand-down was given at 09.54am.
"Many thanks to all agencies involved today and to the employers who allow Mountain Rescue Team members to leave work at short notice to attend callouts."
