Highest and lowest paid jobs of 2022 revealed - including cooks and train drivers

The top paying jobs in the UK for 2022 have been revealed, in new data from the ONS.

The UK's lowest earning roles have also been published, detailing a huge gap between the top and bottom earners in the country.

According to the data, chief executives and senior officials rake in the most money, and get paid an average of £121,434 per year. However, on the other end of the scale, leisure and theme park attendants make the least at a yearly salary of £14,064.

That's a difference of a whopping £107,370 between the country's highest and lowest earners, the Mirror reports.

Marketing, sales and advertising directors were the next highest earners on the list, earning an average of £91,818, followed by financial managers and directors, who placed third with an average salary of £91,853.

Without adjusting for inflation, median weekly pay for people in full-time work increased 5% to £640 in 2022.

But in real terms - so taking inflation into account - weekly pay for full-time employees fell by 2.6% in the year.

The proportion of low-paid jobs also fell to 10.5% in 2022, which is the lowest amount since records began in 1997. Over half a million people in the UK were paid below the National Minimum Wage this year too, compared to 409,000 in 2019.

The data was published by the ONS as part of its Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings survey. However, any year-on-year changes could be as a result of the pandemic and furlough.
