BENGALURU : Worried over brand Bengaluru taking a hit and that it could backfire on their poll prospects, the BJP high command is said to have told its Karnataka unit to tone down its rhetoric on divisive issues such as the boycott of halal meat and Muslim mango traders.
As a result of the diktat from the central leadership, the state government has sought to distance itself from these boycott calls — and from the fringe pro-Hindu organisations that raked up these issues.
